Drag the dial, scroll over it, or focus it and use the arrow keys. Press it in Fluid for 10:1 fine control.

Fluid, computed: restoring torque across 1½ turns No detents, weighted glide

The numbers you never land on.

  • Typing 37.5° because dragging never lands on it

    Fluid Weighted glide, to 0.1°

Fluid turns with weight and no clicks, and reads to a tenth of a degree. Press the knob for 10:1 fine control and 37.5° is a slow, deliberate turn away.

  • Brush size shortcuts you can’t see

Wall Stops at 1 and 400 px, bump at 20 px

Brush size lives on the dial, with hard stops at 1 and 400 px and a bump at 20. The knob’s display shows the size while you turn, so you feel it before you see the cursor.

  • Viewport orbit that fights your hand

    Ratchet 15° per click

Orbit in Fluid with real inertia when you are exploring, then switch to Ratchet for exact 15° turns when you are setting up a shot. Same knob, two feels.

In the tools on your dock.

Detent Studio notices which app is in front and loads its profile before your hand gets there. Every other app still gets system controls out of the box: scroll, zoom, undo, volume, brightness and media.

“The weight is the first thing you notice. The second is that you keep touching it when you are thinking.”

Questions designers ask.

Every answer, in one place
Does it work next to a pen tablet?

That is the point: pen in your drawing hand, dial in the other. It weighs 412 g on a micro-suction foot, so it does not slide when you turn it hard.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes, over Bluetooth or USB-C with iPadOS. System controls (scroll, zoom, undo, volume, brightness and media) work everywhere; deeper integrations depend on each app.

What is software-defined haptics?

Instead of a mechanical click, a small brushless motor pushes back on your fingers. Firmware decides where the clicks are, how strong they feel, whether it springs back or stops dead, and it can change that per app in about a millisecond.

How does the $20 reservation work?

A $20 deposit holds your place and locks the $299 launch price on Detent One. The Founders Edition is always $449; its $50 deposit holds one numbered serial. When your batch is ready we email a ship date and a link to pay the rest; the deposit comes off the price. Cancel any time before it ships for a full refund, one click, no questions.

What if I do not love it?

Use it for 60 days. If it has not earned its spot on your desk, send it back with the prepaid label for a full refund.
