What this site is

Detent is a concept product. This site is a design and engineering demonstration; nothing is for sale and no payment or personal data is collected. The shop, the cart, the reservation and the checkout are working demos. They never take payment and never create an order.

Prices, dates and specs

Prices, launch dates, batches, warranty and trial terms describe how the product would be sold. They are design material, not an offer, and they create no contract. Specs are design targets.

People on this site

The founders, early testers and every quote attributed to them are fictional. Any resemblance to real people is a coincidence. The only real person named here is Scott Bezek, credited on the story page for the open-source SmartKnob project that inspired Detent. He has no involvement with this site.

Other companies’ names

Apps named in the integrations directory and elsewhere belong to their owners. They are named only to show what the dial would do in them. No company listed has partnered with, endorsed or reviewed Detent. No logos of other companies are used.

Using what you find here

• Browse, play with the dial, screenshot and screen-record it. That is what it is for.
• Quote the site for commentary, reviews, teaching and design critique, and link back.
• Do not use it, or a copy of it, to take orders, collect payments or pass it off as a real store.

No warranty on the website

The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate, fast and accessible, but we do not promise it is free of mistakes, and we are not liable for anything that happens because you relied on a concept.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Questions go to hello@detent.example, a placeholder address that does not receive mail.
