Detent One is a concept product: a design and engineering demonstration by Detent Labs, not for sale. It is a machined aluminum desktop dial with software-defined haptics. A brushless motor lets firmware decide how the knob feels in each app: clicks, a fluid glide, a spring back to center, hard end stops, or snaps to markers.

Boilerplate.
Detent One is a concept product: a design and engineering demonstration by Detent Labs, not for sale. It is a desktop dial machined from one billet of 6061 aluminum. Instead of a mechanical click, a brushless gimbal motor and a 14-bit magnetic encoder let firmware decide how the knob feels, and change it in about a millisecond when you switch apps. Six feel profiles run from crisp frame-by-frame clicks in a video editor to a fader with a bump at 0 dB and hard stops at both ends. A round AMOLED display in the knob shows what it controls. Detent One is local-first, needs no account, and has open-source firmware and an open SDK. On paper it costs $349.

In a live launch this inbox would answer within one working day and book time with the team, and production review units would reach independent reviewers before any Batch 1 balance is charged, so buyers could still cancel after the reviews are out.
