Every feel has a name.

Pick a profile and turn the dial. The ring shows where it clicks, the curve shows how hard it pushes back, and the file is the whole definition. Change one number and you’ve made a new feel.

The library

6 profiles ship on every Detent. The other 20 were tuned for one app each by a community that, like this product, is a concept: the creators are fictional. The physics are real and load onto the dial exactly as written.

Seven numbers make a feel. Drag any of them and the dial, the ring and the curve change with you. Up to 32 mN·m, which is everything the motor has.

Your profile lives in the link and in the file you download. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to save it to.

A feel fits in a link.

This is the link for what’s on the dial right now. Change a number above and watch it change. The profile is the link: there’s no database behind it, so it can’t expire and nobody can take it down.

Before the #
The page. It’s the only part your browser sends to a server when you open the link.
#v1.
The format version. Links made today will still open when the format grows.
The rest
The profile itself: 32 characters of compact JSON, base64url-encoded (too short to be worth deflating).
Private by construction
Browsers never send the part after # anywhere. Nobody logs which feel you opened, including us.
Clamped on arrival
Every number is clamped before the dial plays a click. A Feel Link carries up to 72 detents a turn (a limit of the link format, not the motor), never more than the motor’s 32 mN·m, and stops no tighter than ±10°. A hostile link can’t make it buzz, shriek or spin.
Plain JSON underneath
Download gives you the same file the open SDK and the companion app read. Put it in a repo, diff it, send it to a friend with a Detent.
